Actress Marcia Cross has revealed that she won’t try to get pregnant again after suffering a life-threatening illness while carrying her twin daughters.
The 45-year-old Desperate Housewives star revealed to Metro: “My eyesight started going, and I gained 12 pounds in one week. Both are symptoms of pre-eclampsia, a complication that is life-threatening for mother and baby. Within 12 hours of being diagnosed - at 35 weeks - I had a C-section (Cesarean section).”
Cross was so eager to start a family after marrying Tom Mahoney, she insisted the couple skip their honeymoon to concentrate on fertility treatment. The couple wed in 2006 and immediately started trying for a baby using in vitro fertilization with the 45-year-old actress Cross giving birth to twins, Eden and Savannah, in February last year.
And Cross admits she regrets becoming a mother so late:
“I wish that I’d had my girls in my 30s. Then I could be around longer for them. But they’re an incentive for me to stay healthy, take care of myself, and live as long as possible.”
Even so Cross says, she and stockbroker husband Tom Maloney may consider adoption in the future.

I don't blame her. My sister had this, she had twins also. They had to do an emergency C-section at 30 weeks as my sister was so sick she almost died. My nephews were only just 1 and 2 lbs but luckily have grown up to be very healthy boys.
